Carbon Intensity by Steelmaking Pathway
tCO&sub2; per tonne crude steelBF-BOF (Blast Furnace)
Traditional integrated steelmaking · Coal-based reduction
BF-BOF + 30% Scrap
Blended route · What competitors call "green" steel
EAF + Renewable Grid
Electric Arc Furnace · Actual green steel
H&sub2;-DRI + EAF
Hydrogen Direct Reduction · Near-zero carbon
The Myth
Vulcan was the Roman god of fire, metalworking, and the forge. In DWS mythology, he's distinct from Hephaestus — where Hephaestus reads the construction site, Vulcan lives inside the steel mill. He knows the temperature of every furnace, the carbon content of every heat, and the ETS exposure of every installation.
Direct as a forge hammer. When a competitor claims "green steel" at 1.2 tCO&sub2;/t, Vulcan knows it's a BF-BOF with 30% scrap blend — not the EAF + renewable grid that would actually qualify. He doesn't soften the numbers. He doesn't need to.
"Blast furnace: 1.8–2.2 tCO&sub2;/t. EAF: 0.4–0.6 tCO&sub2;/t. Zero free allowances from 2026. You don't need softening, you need numbers."

The Forge Capabilities
Steel ETS Compliance
Phase 4 allowance tracking. Free allocation decline curves. Carbon price exposure modelling. Installation-level reporting.
CBAM Steel Carbon Content
Embedded emissions per product. Quarterly reporting. Actual vs. default values. Third-party verification readiness.
BF vs. EAF Analysis
Pathway comparison. Scrap ratio impact. Carbon intensity curves. Transition economics and timeline modelling.
Metals Industry Compliance
Aluminium, copper, zinc, ferroalloys. Each metal pathway with specific emission factors and CBAM requirements.
Decarbonization Pathways
H&sub2;-DRI, CCUS, electrification roadmaps. Cost curves, timeline, technology readiness. What's real vs. what's PowerPoint.
Greenwash Detection
Cross-references competitor claims with Argus satellite thermal signatures. BF thermal pattern ≠ EAF claim. Green Claims Directive Article 2(2).
